Care and services must be offered to support you in your grieving regardless of the reasons for the termination of your pregnancy or the loss of your baby.
Most healthcare facilities offer services to help care for your baby. They may also suggest keepsakes. You can accept or reject the suggestions made to you. The healthcare team must respect your choices.
You must be offered support in your grief, whatever the reasons for the termination of the pregnancy or the death.
Several examples of situations
- You can give your baby a name.
- You can give care to your baby such as bathing, dressing, and rocking them.
- You can take photos of your baby.
- You can keep your baby with you for as long as necessary.
- If your baby is kept outside your room, you can ask for them to be brought to you as many times as you want.
