Description of
the right
Your baby’s medical records include all the information collected about them by healthcare staff. You have the right to consult your baby’s entire medical records and make copies of its contents.
Delays to access your medical records or obtain copies may vary.
In the public healthcare network, you have the right to get help in order to understand the information contained in your minor child’s medical records.
Access to your baby’s records or part of their records may be denied if:
- consulting your child’s records poses a serious risk to their health,
- your child is the subject of a report to youth protection services.
From age 14, children can refuse their parents access to their medical records.
